Rho (ρ) Ophiuchi Nebula (a.v.a.t. Project)

The Rho (ρ) Ophiuchi cloud complex is a dark nebula of gas and dust that is located 1° south of the star ρ Ophiuchi of the constellation Ophiuchus. This cloud covers an angular area of 4.5° × 6.5° on the celestial sphere. The distance from the Earth is about 400 million light years.Ιn this area have been found for the first time in interstellar space of hydrogen peroxide . The discovery gives clues about the chemical link between two molecules critical for life water and oxygen.

Comments

The Image is taken in Mt Parnon at 1420m from 4 members of AstroVoxAstrophotography Team and it is mosaic of 4 parts. Participated in Project Aggelos Kechagias, Farmakopoulos Antonis, Evangelos Souglakos, Dagioglou Elias and Stella Soultou which provided their telescope in order to have the same focal length.
